AC Milan receive Spal in the closing game of Serie A’s Round 10, in a match where both teams look to add 3 points so they can run away from relegation zone.
Stefano Pioli squad comes from a 2-1 defeat at Stadio Olimpico to AS Roma, and will look to get back on track at home against a out-of-form Spal team. Even though they’ve been disappointing in recent games, the Rossoneri are capable of much more, with the likes of Rafael Leão, Lucas Paqueta and Suso as direct threats to the opposition. Milan’s last home win dates back to 31 of August, when they beat Brescia by 1-0. The successive exchange in managers is something that didn’t help the team at all as well, as they traded Gasperini for Pioli last week, in an attempt to add a play style that could benefit their attacking line. Surprisingly, Milan is one of the worst attacks in the league, with nine goals only, a statistic that they will try to change to improve when they face off Spal tonight.
On the other side, Spal currently sits at 19th place, inside the relegation zone. In the last 5 games they’ve only won 1, when they’ve played Parma at home. Their away record is nothing but terrifying, losing all games for the Serie A, conceding 8 goals and scoring none. Leonardo Semplici has a hard task ahead, trying to produce something that his team didn’t achieve yet this season. Add to that, that Milan is in urgent need of points and a win, and chances decrease for Spal, as they will attempt to delay their opponent first goal to the maximum. It looks like Spal will spend a few more days in the relegation zone.
I expect AC Milan to have a strong entrance, trying to score as soon as possible. If Spal can hold it down or not is a different question, but there’s value in Milan leading at the half.
