Alex Bolt and Felix Auger-Aliassime will face each other in the 1st round of the Acapulco ATP 500.
The Australian has entered the main draw as Lucky Loser, after losing his final match on the qualifying against Damir Dzumhur. He has one more chance to prove his worth in Mexico, but he has to face a player who’s been playing very good tennis lately. There’s a small chance for Bolt to advance here, as the difference in level between the two is evident, but even so, he’ll try to complete the upset later on. One advantage Alex Bolt might have is the fatigue Auger-Aliassime could be feeling, after two weeks of nonstop play. Let’s see if he can make some damage with his aggressive play when the two meet.
The Canadian is playing inspired tennis at the moment. The only thing that’s been missing in his game is to close out the matches. He reached two straight finals on these last two weeks, but couldn’t grab any winner silverware. He’ll have a tougher mission here in Dubai, as the field is much stronger than the previous tournaments he participated. However, he has the talent to make a deep run this week. If he wins against Alex Bolt, he’ll face Kyle Edmund in the 2nd round, an opponent who’s been raising his level lately.
The difference between the two players is notorious. Felix is a much better player than Bolt, and I expect him to show that in tonight’s matchup.
