The duel of outsiders
Atalanta will host Valencia in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 match. This will be the first official meeting in history between the two teams and will be played at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium since the Atalanta stadium is not licensed to host continental competitions. The match is scheduled to start at 8 pm on Wednesday.
The two teams faced off in a friendly match in the summer of 2017 and the victory went to the Italian side, 2-1, in a game that was far from the demanding levels of the next matches.
The Serie A fourth-placed team takes to the field in a series of two consecutive wins. Those were two of the three victories of the Orobici in the last five outings, which all witnessed more than 2.5 goals. The attack of the Bergamo's team is the highlight of the team - Atalanta is by far the best attack in the league (63 goals), with an average of 2.63 goals scored.
Valencia arrives in Italy far from the best moment - they didn´t win the last three games (lost two) and in the last five, they only won one. La Liga's sixth-placed team experienced some defensive problems as they conceded seven goals in the last three games. A curious fact - in the last seven Valencia games, none were won by the visiting teams, a fact that the “Chés” will have to counter if they want to leave Italy with a positive result.
Atalanta: Bosko Sutalo is injured.
Valencia: Gabriel Paulista, Francis Coquelin, Rodrigo Moreno, Jasper Cillessen, Ezequiel Garay and Manu Vallejo are injured.
We believe in a balanced game, with goals included
