The slumping Atlanta Hawks look to avoid another loss when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at State Farm Arena.
Trae Young, who’s having a particularly great season, will try to avoid a seven-game skid for his team. John Collins suspension proved to be too much of a blow for this young squad, as they’ve started the season on a high note but are starting to look a lot like last season. Even with the additions of Jabari Parker and Allen Crabbe, both very good contributors on offense, their defense has been the main issue that’s not letting them net more wins in the record column. Alex Len will try to contain Karl-Anthony Towns tonight, however, that’s an incredibly hard task, as he’s playing like a MVP candidate. Andrew Wiggins is another player who could feast on the Hawks rookies Reddish and Hunter, creating a mismatch that the Wolves could explore.
In their last 5 games, the Timberwolves have gone through a bad patch as well. With 1 win and 4 losses, Ryan Saunders will try to leave Atlanta with a win in his bag, as they try to climb to playoff positions once again. For that to happen, they will need their superstars back at the level they previously displayed, namely Wiggins, who was looking like a superstar in the first few games of the season. It’s expected a bounce back game against the Hawks, as the Timberwolves definitely have the better squad. Keep an eye on Jeff Teague, a player who is due to a big game, especially with Trae Young guarding him.
The Hawks are usually a very different team at home than on the road, but with so many casualties, the Timberwolves should take the best out of tonight’s game.
