Two historical head-to-head for the first time
Bayer Leverkusen will host FC Porto in the first leg of their 1/16 finals of the Europa League. The two teams will face each other for the first time in history. At the BayArena, the match is scheduled to start at 8 pm.
Bayer Leverkusen enters the field motivated by a series of three consecutive victories, which leave the team in the fight for a place to access the Champions League next season. The Bundesliga's fifth-placed has an impressive record of five wins in six games after the winter break, with the attack being the main driver of these good results. In the last six games, they scored 17 goals and the last five witnessed more than 2.5.
Motivated to this game also comes FC Porto, which in Portugal relaunched the fight for the championship. The Dragons take a series of six consecutive games without losing and in that period they won the Portuguese classic against Benfica, booked a place in the final of the Portuguese Cup and reduced the difference for the championship lead from seven to one point. The defense could be the weak point of the blues and whites against the strong Leverkusen attack - In the last nine games they only managed a clean sheet, but the 15 goals scored in the last six games are also a warning sign for the Germans' defense.
Bayer Leverkusen: Julian Baumgartlinger is doubtful.
FC Porto: Pepe and Danilo Pereira are questionable.
We believe that both teams will score goals at BayArena
