The Eastern Conference leaders, Boston Celtics, receive the much improved Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden.
Boston’s been one of the pleasant surprises this season. After losing Kyrie Irving and Al Horford, many people thought that they would crumble into the late spots of playoff race in the Eastern Conference. Even though Kemba Walker is not the same player as Irving, he seems to fit better in Brad Stevens system, providing a play making ability that few possess. Robert Williams, a second year player, is flourishing in this system as well. With an impressive athletic ability, the center is excellent at rim protecting and in Pick-and-Roll action. It’s expected to be a tough test for the Celtics and their frontcourt as they will deal with Boban Marjanovic and Kristaps Porzingis.
As for the Dallas Mavericks, behind Doncic and Porzingis excellent efforts, they’re making some noise in the Western Conference. With an experienced coach in Rick Carlisle, the Mavs hope to reach the playoffs this season. Tonight will be a good game to see where they stand at the beginning of the season, as Kemba Walker will pose some problems defensively for Doncic and company.
Even though the Mavericks are playing amazingly lately, the TD Garden is always a tough spot to play, and the Celtics come from a great win against the San Antonio Spurs. Gordon Hayward will be sorely missed tonight, but the Celtics should handle the job.
