The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers will begin their 2019-20 NBA campaign tonight at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Both are huge contenders to reach the playoffs this season, with Philadelphia being looked as the major force in the East.
Philadelphia added former Celtics center Al Horford as well as former Miami Heat shooting guard Josh Richardson as JJ Reddick left Philadelphia to join Zion Williamson and the Pelicans. Along with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris, the starting lineup of the Sixers are seen as arguably the best team in the East and they'll try to prove it tonight. The Sixers won 3 of 4 meetings last year, while Embiid posted some of his best averages against an NBA team (29.3 PPG and 15.5 RPG).
The Celtics saw important pieces leaving the organization in the off season. Kyrie Irving joined the Brooklyn Nets along with Kevin Durant while Al Horford joined the Sixers. Former Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker joined the team while Daniel Theis will be at the center position. Gordon Hayward is questionable for tonight due to illness and will be a game time decision.
The Sixers should take the win tonight, but it's expected to be a close match between two of the major contenders in the East. Look for the spread (incl. OT) Philadelphia -2.5.
