The Chicago Bulls receive the red-hot Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James tonight at the United Center.
Chicago’s only produced a win at home in the regular season against the Detroit Pistons, as they’re regularly a better team at home than on the road. It was expected a more convincing start to the season from the Bulls, even more when they had a relatively easy schedule until now. After an incredible first game, Lauri Markkanen haven’t found his rhythm yet, as he’s struggling to score the ball on good efficiency, which leads to a drop of production in this Bulls team. The player along with Zach Lavine is a key piece in this Bulls system, and if they want any chance to secure a playoff spot. One of the bright spots, however, has been their rookie Coby White. In their most recent game against Indiana he only had a point in a disastrous performance, but even with his latest game, he’s averaging 10.4 PPG on 22.7 minutes, providing a spark off the bench. It is expected a very hard game for Chicago tonight, when they face LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who are currently on a roll.
The Lakers arrive at United Center on a five-game winning streak, after almost completing the Texas triangle, defeating San Antonio and Dallas. Analysts expected the LA team to be one of the contenders for the Larry O’Brien trophy, but one thing that they didn’t expect was for them to start off so strong this early in the season. Leaded by an incredible defense, whose anchor is Anthony Davis, with the help of Dwight Howard and LeBron James, Frank Vogel’s pupils are looking close to unstoppable. The chemistry is still a work in progress, and that’s clear on the offensive end where there are spurts at times where isolations take over, instead of team basketball, but that will get better with time. Analyzing both teams current form, it’s safe to say that the Lakers are clear favorites for tonight’s matchup, even though in the NBA anything can happen.
The Lakers have been the same in almost every game this season. They usually have a slow start, where they start trailing in the 1st quarter. However, things quickly change in the 2nd half, blowing out teams left and right, winning comfortably in the end. I expect the same thing for tonight.
Lakers -5.5 @1.69
