The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Miami Heat tonight at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, in an Eastern Conference matchup.
Coming off a close loss at the buzzer to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cavs will look to bounce back in front of their fans. Kevin Love, the leader of this team, has been playing at a very high-level, along with sophomore guard Collin Sexton. After the departures of Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, the Cavs find themselves in a rebuilding position, drafting Darius Garland with the 5th pick and Kevin Porter Jr. later on. Tonight’s game will be an interesting test to see where the team’s at, especially their young players, as Miami is making a name for themselves in the start of the regular season. Cedi Osman will be key in trying to stop Jimmy Butler going off, which will be key if the Cavs want to have a chance.
The Miami Heat acquired Jimmy Butler this offseason and hit the lotto at the same time with their draft picks. Tyler Herro, who’s compared by many as the second coming of Klay Thompson, and Kendrick Nunn, a big surprise in this year’s league, are exceeding expectations, helping their team to reach success. Erik Spoelstra, a coach who’s never in the coagitations for the award of Coach of the Year, is doing an incredible job with his squad. Goran Dragic, a former superstar, now comes off the bench, providing a scoring spark for their 2nd unit. They come across tonight as clear favorites to win at Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have not been as bad at home as on the road, but still, this Miami Heat team is looking like it will give a hard challenge for anyone come playoff time. Even though the game could be balanced in the first quarters, I expect to Heat to run away with the score later on.
