The Dallas Mavericks receive the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at American Airlines Center, in a Western Conference matchup.
The Mavericks are coming off an impressive stretch, with wins against the Sixers, Kings and the Blazers. The most impressive thing about this four-game winning streak is that Kristaps Porzingis isn’t even playing, leaving his spot open for players like Maxi Kleber and Boban Marjanovic. It’s still unknown if the player will be able to suit up tonight, something that would be a big boost for Rick Carlisle and his squad, as Porzingis is also a defensive anchor besides his offensive talent. Kawhi Leonard has been on fire lately, and it’s going to take a team effort for them to be able to slow him down, giving them a bigger chance to run away with the win when it’s all said and done.
With 4 wins in their last 5 games, like the Dallas Mavericks, the Clippers arrive full of confidence for tonight’s matchup. Paul George is scheduled to miss another game for the LA team, but they have a lot of options to cover for him. Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell are two incredible weapons off the bench, who can go off at any given time in a game, giving Doc Rivers and his squad an edge on their bench play. Currently sitting in 4th place on the Western Conference, any loss or a win could be decisive for the playoff seed each team gets come April, even more when it’s against a direct rival.
This is a tough game to predict. Both teams are pretty balanced, and the absences will be costly for both. However, if Porzingis makes his return tonight, Dallas become the favourites to take the win.
