The Dallas Mavericks host the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center.
Coming off a tough loss in San Antonio, the Mavericks need to bounce back if they still want to climb the standings in the Western Conference. Offensively, they’re no longer the team they were at the beginning of the season, due to multiple injuries and to a drop of production from several key players. However, their opponent has also not been so great recently, so they have a chance of beating one of the top teams in their conference. One of the key matchups for tonight’s game will be Kristaps Porzingis against Nikola Jokic. If someone could get the upper hand, their team could be the favourite to win. It will be interesting to see if fatigue will be a factor, seen as Dallas is playing a back-to-back.
On the other hand, the Nuggets come off a win against a depleted Milwaukee Bucks team. Even without all their key pieces, Mike Malone’s team still had to sweat to defeat the No. 1 team in the league, a worrying sign for the Denver Nuggets. They’ll travel to Dallas tonight, and if they want to come out victorious, they would need to step it up a notch, as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis will be waiting. Nikola Jokic recent play has not been very good as well, as the player has been posting multiple single digits scoring games. He would need to be aggressive tonight against an inform Porzingis. All in all it should be a great game.
This game has all the ingredients to be amazing. However, both teams current moments are not great. The homecourt advantage could play a crucial role during this matchup.
