DInamo Minsk hosts the newly promoted Rukh Brest in round 1 of the Vysshaya League.
The home team finished last year's Vysshaya League in 4th place, 15 points behind Soligorsk who finished third and 25 points behind the champions Brest. As they now enter the new season, Dinamo's goal is to close the gap to the top of the league as the team will fight for a place in next year's European competitions. Coming from a defeat in the Belarus Cup against BATE Borisov, Dinamo will need to be more consistent if they want to be better than last year. The team lost points in 15 of the 30 league games last season and conceded 39 goals.
Rukh Brest got their spot in this season's Vysshaya League after defeating Dnyapro in the playoff for promotion. It was very dramatic the way Rukh Brest finished last season as the team was third with the same 56 points of Lokomotiv Gomel and won the promotion after a penalty shootout against Dnyapro. Despite the lack of competitiveness in Belarus second division, Rukh Brest showed an incredible consistency during the season, losing just 2 games in the league. Curiously, the two losses were at home, which how tough is to beat this team when they are playing as visitors. Averaging almost 3 goals per game last season, it will be interesting to see how far can Rukh Brest go this year at the Vysshaya League.
Despite the favoritism from the home team, we think Rukh Brest can score at least a goal.
