Federico Delbonis and Christian Garin will face off in the 1/8-Finals of the Rio Open ATP 500.
Delbonis is coming off a win against Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets, and is looking to reach the Quarter-Finals of the tournament tonight. However, he’ll have to beat a very good clay courter to get to that stage. He’s trailing the H2H, as he lost two times and won one, with all matches being played on clay. Although the Argentinian is not the favourite, it’s going to be a hard task for him to beat an inform Garin, who’s coming off a title run at Cordoba. Expect an even match in the 1st quarter, and if by chance he takes the 1st set, things could get interesting for the remaining of the fixture.
Christian Garin looks poised for another deep run at Rio Open. The 25-year-old has beaten Diego Schwartzman on his home soil to claim the Cordoba title, and could have a chance to climb the rankings if he gets to the final here. Dominic Thiem, is on the other side of the draw, with Dusan Lajovic being the only dangerous player for him left. He has all the tools to beat Delbonis tonight, and if that happens, he’ll face a Wildcard or a player coming from the qualifiers.
Federico Delbonis is not an easy task, as he’s a good clay courter, but Christian Garin should be able to take care of business tonight.
