The Golden State Warriors will host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight at Chase Center, in a game that involves two of the worst teams in the league this season.
Even with Steph Curry’s injury, no one thought that the Warriors would be this bad in the 1st quarter of the regular season. With one of the worst records in the league and the playoffs out of reach, they’re trying to give playing time to their rookies in order to develop them. Eric Paschall and Ky Bowman are proving they belong in the league, and could be helpful when Curry and Thompson return from their respective injuries. Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell remain the leaders for Golden State, but their All-Star form is still yet to appear this year, namely Draymond, who’s averaging very low numbers for his standard. Even so, when playing at home, they still find a way to be competitive, and could be looking at another win against this Grizzlies team.
Ja Morant’s injury took a hit on the Grizzlies, as they’ve lost three of four since he went down. A player who’s been raising his level since that moment is Jonas Valanciunas, reminiscing a bit of the end of last season, where he showed glimpses of being a reliable 3rd option. However, their last three games ended up in losses, and with Ja Morant questionable for tonight, they could end up raising that losing streak against a lowly Golden State Warriors. This is another season out of contention for Memphis, as they’re trying to turn Jaren Jackson Jr and Ja Morant into superstars in a few years.
This will be a tight game for both teams, as they’re currently on the same level. However, I expect the Warriors to give their fans something to cheer on this season, as they could run away with a win tonight.
