La Vecchia Signora is sitting at 2nd place behind Inter Milan, who won his match yesterday against Breccia, giving them a 2-point advantage over Juventus.
The 8th consecutive Italian champions is one of the few teams in Europe who are still undefeated this season, a reason why Juventus is the clear favorite for tonight’s match against Genoa. Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot and Matthijs de Ligt were the main acquisitions for Maurizio Sarri during the summer window, as they are pushing hard to compete for the Champions League. Juve have won six of their last seven against Genoa, conceding only a goal during that span. This season at home, they’ve won all of their six games including domestic and european competitions. Safe to say that if nothing wrong happens tonight, they will run away with another victory as they face a fragile Genoa side, who’ve conceded the most goals (21) from all squads in Serie A. Paulo Dybala has been hot lately, scoring three goals in his last two games.
As for Genoa, they sit currently at 17th place, one spot ahead of the relegation zone. Their away form has been horrendous this season, as they’ve suffered 3 or more goals in each game. Going away to Juventus is not exactly the right place to fix these issues, and if a loss is likely, it’s better not to count out a beatdown from Sarri’s pupils. Beyond having a bad track record defending their goal, Genoa only netted five away goals, something that won’t move the needle if they want to come back with points in their baggage.
Yesterday, Lionel Messi surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo in the all-time scoring leaders regarding club history. Expect Cristiano to score tonight as he wants to return the favor to the Argentinian.
