The LA Clippers face the Houston Rockets in a battle of Western Conference juggernauts tonight at Staples Center.
It’s still unknown if Kawhi Leonard is playing against the Rockets, but even so, their team is competitive enough to beat Mike d’Antoni’s team at home. Paul George will most likely take the load of defending James Harden, with Maurice Harkless spending time on him as well when George is resting, a flaw that could be exploited if Kawhi doesn’t take the court. We’ll get to see Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley going at it again, a long time rivalry since the Oklahoma City Thunder days. Probably the most expected game of the night, it should be a close one until the end, where James Harden and Paul George/Kawhi Leonard could prove to be decisive for their teams to win.
James Harden is having an incredible season as usual, averaging a league-high 38.4 Points per game to go along with 5.8 Rebounds and 7.5 Assists. With the help of former teammate Russell Westbrook, the expectations are as high as they could be in H-Town. Looking for their first championship ring, the Rockets are starting to gel, which could be a scary sight for the rest of the league. Denver snapped an eight-game winning streak two days ago at Pepsi Center, however, they’ll have a good possibility of stealing the win tonight if Kawhi is not available.
This is a hard game to predict, as both teams are pretty even. The home crowd could play a factor tonight for the Clippers to get the win. However, both defenses should buckle up and show their true potential at Staples.
