Doc Rivers and his team host their Western Conference rival in the Houston Rockets tonight at the Staples Center.
After an unexpected loss to the Chicago Bulls, the Clippers bounced back in style against Phoenix at home. Kawhi Leonard and Lou Williams made their return to the squad, giving them a much needed boost in terms of scoring, as they comfortably added another win to their record. However, things are different tonight. They’ll go head-to-head with a team that gave them serious problems in the last time they’ve faced. Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley always have intense duels due to their background as players, and it’s expected another showdown between the two tonight. The rivalry these two teams share, seem to have increased over the years, and it could reach an all-time high this season, seeing how they’re both strong contenders to reach the NBA Finals. JaMychal Green is the only player who is out for tonight’s game in the Clippers squad.
Sitting in 5th place of the Western Conference, the Rockets will try to gain some ground over their most direct rivals, and a win tonight could see them jump close to the 3rd spot. The last matchup between the Clippers and the Rockets, saw the home team run away with the win in the final minutes of the game at the Staples Center, something that they’ll try to reverse this time around. James Harden has been close to unstoppable in the last few weeks, but he’ll probably have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George shifting turns to guard him tonight, a challenge that he’ll gladly take on. These two teams always present us fun games, and tonight should be no different.
It’s hard to imagine one of these two teams producing a blow out to each other, so I’ll expect a very even game until the end, with the possibility of the win falling to either team. However, the Rockets will have something to say after falling short in their last game between them.
