The Los Angeles Clippers will have Kawhi Leonard back for their second back-to-back of the season against the Portland Trail Blazers at Staples Center.
Defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday, the Clippers look to bounce back when they receive the streaky Trail Blazers with Damian Lillard and company. Getting behind in the Western Conference playoff race, Doc Rivers and his team will try to avoid a second consecutive loss as they are heavy favourites for tonight’s matchup. Even though the Blazers have suffered multiple injuries in their frontcourt, the home team doesn’t have the depth necessary to create significant damage, unless your called Ivica Zubac or Montrezl Harrell. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will be controlled by Patrick Beverley and Kawhi Leonard, so a tough game it’s to be expected for the main superstars in Portland.
As for Terry Stotts’ team, they’re currently going through a hard time as their frontcourt is almost completely depleted. Jusuf Nurkic is out and doesn’t have a timetable to return this season, Zach Collins suffered a shoulder injury which needed surgery repair and is out for 4 months, while Hassan Whiteside went to locker room in one of their previous contests with no timetable to return as well. It’s on Lillard and McCollum to carry the scoring load, while waiting for any bench production their teammates can give them. The Trail Blazers had home court advantage in their last two postseason runs, but this year it could turn out to be different. Never count out Portland’s superstars, but Clippers should bag another win tonight at Staples Center.
The Los Angeles Clippers proved to be a good team when playing at home, even without Kawhi Leonard. With the forward making his comeback to the team tonight, I expect a hard game for the Portland Trail Blazers.
