Manchester United hosts Partizan Belgrade tonight at the mitic stadium of Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are a nightmare opposition at home, since they’ve not been beaten in their last ten Europa League home games, winning eight and drawing two. Solskjaer’s team is being highly inconsistent this season, switching up between good exhibitions and terrible ones. Before losing to Bournemouth last weekend, they were on a three-game winning streak and seemed to have found their mojo again, but crumbled under pressure once again for the Premier League. One of the main problems for Manchester United surprisingly, is putting the ball on the net. Even with all their talent, they’ve only scored two goals in the three matches made so far in the Europa League, as their defense has been their strongest link. The home team comes across as huge favorites for tonight’s match, but Partizan is in need of points, for them to have a chance to qualify to EL next stage.
Partizan Belgrade arrive at this match following a 4-0 win against Vojvodina for the Serbian Super League. They currently trail AZ Alkmaar by one point, and will try to make the best out of tonight’s encounter with Manchester United. Their away record for the Uefa Europa League is not great, as they’ve proceeded to lose ten of their last sixteen fixtures. Even so, their attack is not the problem, scoring in five of their last seven away games, it’s the defensive side that gives up way too many opportunities for the opposition. If they can somehow limit United’s chances, they could have a good shot of running away with points from Old Trafford. Rashford has scored four goals in his previous five games, so Partizan will need to keep an eye on him.
I predict a strong showing from United tonight, as well as a strong entrance in the game. Solskjaer’s squad can qualify themselves with win tonight against Partizan, so it’s expected a strong lineup.
