The New Orleans Pelicans will receive the Dallas Mavericks tonight at Smoothie King Center, in a Western Conference showdown.
Losers of five in a row, the Pelicans are in the middle of a three-game homestand in tonight’s matchup, and are surely looking to avoid another disappointing game when they encounter Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Even though they’re on a tough losing streak, their last three defeats came in the closing minutes, a normal thing on such a young squad still learning on how to close games. Brandon Ingram is playing at an All-Star level and he’s trying his best to hide Zion Williamson’s absence at the start of the season. It’s expected a tough game for the Pelicans.
The Dallas Mavericks come from an incredible win at Staples Center against league’s best Los Angeles Lakers. A dream performance in the 2nd half saw them open a 20-point lead, and they never looked back again. They’ll try to replicate that type of performance tonight at New Orleans behind Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis amazing level at the moment, to consolidate them as a playoff team. Currently tied with the Rockets in the Southwest division, a win here will put them above their rivals in the standings.
Even though they’re on a 5-game losing streak, the Pelicans are no easy match for any team at home and will try to make the Mavs life harder. Still, I believe Doncic and his team will come out victorious tonight.
