After winning their respective matches two days ago, Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem will produce one more showing now at the Nitto ATP Finals.
After a complete dismantling in his first match against Matteo Berrettini, the Serbian looks ready to take home another trophy. He seems to have regained his confidence in the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000, which could be a big problem for the opposition, namely Dominic Thiem tonight. In search for the No. 1 spot in the World again, after losing it some weeks ago to Rafael Nadal, Djokovic has the opportunity to grab it back in the last tournament of the year, giving him the possibility to finish in the first place for the sixth time in his career. However, he’ll face an inform Dominic Thiem, who’s currently playing a high-level tennis in indoor tournaments. Novak is the huge favorite, but it’s expected a much tighter match tonight than the previous one for the 32-year-old.
On the other side, Dominic Thiem came up clutch against arguably the best player of all time in Roger Federer. He’s coming from a pretty good indoor hardcourt season, something that’s not Thiem’s specialty, however, his improvement is encouraging, and if the service holds on during this match, he might have a small chance to make a match out of this. His Head-to-Head against Novak is 7-3 with all wins coming on clay tournaments. Dominic has a pretty good chance of advancing to the semi-final due to his win over Federer, but all in all, a loss tonight is still the most expected outcome.
Novak Djokovic is the clear favorite for tonight’s matchup, but still, I’m expecting an aggressive Dominic Thiem from the get-go. Either Djokovic takes full control from the beginning or I can see a close 1st set.
