The Oklahoma City Thunder host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in a rematch of Wednesday fixture at Staples Center.
Almost everyone thought that Billy Donovan’s team was going to be one of the worst teams in the league, as they’ve traded away their two most important players and bonafide superstars in Russell Westbrook and Paul George. However, beyond the plethora of draft picks they’ve received, there were some very good players making their way to Oklahoma. Chris Paul, a certified veteran, Danilo Gallinari, one of the best shooters in the league, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a sophomore with All-Star potential, turned out to be great pickups for the team. Their record is not the best, but they can stay competitive throughout almost every game, as it was seen in Los Angeles when they’ve faced the Clippers and the Lakers. Tonight it’s round two between LeBron James and Chris Paul, but in Chesapeake Arena. Will they be able to steal a win?
The Lakers after a very busy offseason, are now starting to live up to their true potential. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are a scary duo, the best in the league arguably, as teams have a really hard time stopping them both. Add to that, sharp shooting 3-pointing and defensive-minded players, and you’ve got yourself a really good team. Frank Vogel’s squad took the best out of OKC Wednesday night in a 112-107 win, but tonight’s game proves to be much more dangerous than the last one. The Thunder has a 5-3 record at home, with one of those losses coming in the last seconds to Portland, and could be up to the challenge along one of the best fanbases in the league.
Coming off a two-day rest, the Lakers should be up to the challenge against the Thunder. Even though the game could go down the wire, they should be able to pull it off in the end to beat Chris Paul and company.
