The Phoenix Suns will host the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in a very interesting matchup at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Before the season started, everyone in their right minds not even thought about the possibility of the Suns being a playoff team this year. We’re three weeks into the season and no one is doubting Monty Williams team anymore. Guided by Devin Booker and Ricky Rubio, Phoenix is playing an amazing brand of basketball to go along with a defensive intensity not seen in years before. Deandre Ayton 25-game suspension was a big blow in the team’s aspirations, but newly acquired Aron Baynes is excelling on the court, providing a much needed boost both offensively and defensively. It will be interesting to see how they handle a big Lakers team tonight.
After a 7-game winning streak, the Lakers saw their luck ending on Sunday, in a clash of giants against the Raptors. They shot poorly through the entire game, with transition defense being a problem for Frank Vogel’s squad. Obviously, they will only get better over time, as new players are still adjusting to a certain playstyle, and tonight could be a great test for them, as they will face a red-hot Phoenix team. Anthony Davis is questionable for tonight due to his shoulder, a problem still lingering since pre-season. It’s expected a bounce back game for LeBron as well, who had a below average 4th quarter for his standards.
For many, the game of the night, I’m expecting a really tight contest who will last until the end. Either way, the Lakers should be able to execute better in clutch moments, running away with the win.
