There’s a big game coming up in France this weekend between current champions Paris Saint-Germain and Andre Villas Boas’ very own, Marseille.
The clubs are going through different phases now, as PSG looks to be a serious contender in the Champions League and Marseille are rebuilding in order to accomplish a spot in the table who can guarantee them European football. It’s still not known if Thomas Tuchel will be rotating some of his key players due to their previous Champions League match, but even so, he’s going to field a pretty strong team. In his last 10 games, they only lost 1 and won 9, so it will prove to be an herculean task for Les Phocéens to obtain a result at Parc des Princes. Neymar will not field as he’s been injured since the international break, but there’s another star gaining momentum. Mauro Icardi, one of their summer signings, has scored 3 goals in his two last games, proving to be back to his old Inter ways. Kylian Mbappé and company will not have an easy game, but they should come out on top in the end.
For Marseille, they come off a victory against the “red lantern” of the league in Strasbourg and will look to continue their winning ways. It will certainly be hard but their manager, Andre Villas Boas, is an expert of obtaining results in tough places, something he did with much frequency at FC Porto and Tottenham Hotspur. Dimitri Payet, who was suspended, is a reinforcement much needed for Boas squad, providing creativity and goalscoring in the midfield. Marseille will probably pack the midfield in order to disrupt PSG offensive avalanche, holding up as much as they can the home team’s first goal.
Paris Saint-Germain have always been a team who scored in bunches when playing in front of their fans, and with Marseille’s defensive problems, we can expect a game filled with goals.
