The Merengues receive Leganés tonight, counting for Round 11 of Spain’s most important competition, La Liga.
Real Madrid are coming from a great result in the Champions League at Galatasaray, a 0-1 win, which made them breath a lot better in the group stages, as they were starting to pull behind after two bad results in their first two games. However, Madrid’s form in the main domestic competition has been shaky to say the least. They’re sitting in 6th place at the moment, 4 points behind Barcelona, who leads the league table after a horrible start. Eden Hazard hasn’t found his rhythm yet in Spain and that could be proving to be a big blow as they need to avoid dropping more points this early in the season. At home, Los Blancos have scored 2 or more in their last four competitive matches, leading three of them by half-time. It is expected for Real to win comfortably tonight as they face the “red lantern”, one of the worst teams in the league.
On the other side, Leganés needs to start obtaining results if they want to avoid the relegation battle early on. This is not the best game however, to start that journey. Leganés are clearly underdogs for tonight’s match and it will take a lot of heart and courage to get away from Santiago Bernabeu with a result. Coming from a victory against Mallorca at home, Luis Cembranos squad arrives with a little bit more motivation, but their goal scoring average continues to be poor, with 0.5 a game. They’re currently on a 5-game streak without a victory away from home, and the most probable thing is that they’ll keep the streak alive tonight.
Karim Benzema has scored in 4 of the last 5 home games for Madrid, and I expect him to continue tonight, as the match could produce a good number of goals.
Karim Benzema to score at anytime @1.92
