Russia will face off Belgium at Gazprom Arena on a game that the end result is the least important thing as both teams are already qualified for the Euro 2020.
The Russians have performed an incredible campaign in order to qualify for the next big European tournament, sitting at 2nd place with 21 points. Because of that, they have a chance to steal the 1st spot from Belgium’s hands in their home soil, with a win doing the job. Their home record stands immaculate, as they’ve produced four wins in four games, and still have to concede a goal yet, with fifteen goals scored as well. However, the two matches where they conceded, the goal always came early, behind the 15th minute mark. That’s something they will need to avoid against an opponent of Belgium’s caliber, as it will be hard to turn the game around if they start trailing in the score. Even so, Russia’s chances are not looking bad, seeing they’re a dominant team at home.
On the other side, Roberto Martinez squad is perfect in this Group I. Still yet to drop points, the Belgians arrive at Russia with a 30:1 goal ratio, an incredible statistic, proving how overwhelming they can be. Six of their eight games for their qualification campaign has seen them score at least 3 goals, so it’s expected for Belgium to score when they take on Russia at Gazprom Arena. They have leaded in every match at half-time, so it will be interesting how the 1st half goes in Saturday’s evening match.
The record for both teams speak for itself, as they are the best two teams in their group currently. Even though they’ve been excellent defensively, I’m expecting some goals from this match, with the over on goals holding some value.
