The San Antonio Spurs will receive the Houston Rockets in a Texas clash at the AT&T Center tonight.
San Antonio’s last two games have been nothing alike. They hosted the Los Angeles Clippers, one of the best teams in the league, and played at an extremely high level, obtaining the win with both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the lineup. After that, they travelled to Detroit to take on Blake Griffin and company, however, this time without Lamarcus Aldridge. They lost by 34 points with a team that had previously lost against the lowly Charlotte Hornets. This inconsistency showed by Popovich’s team could cost them the playoffs come April, something very unusual by the Spurs. The Rockets will try to take advantage of this factor heading into San Antonio’s building tonight.
On the other hand, the Rockets are cruising and James Harden keeps playing better as the days go by. Is that even possible? In his last fixture, he scored 60 points in three quarters, something that only Kobe had done previously, but with 62 instead. With 13 wins and 6 losses, they are solidifying themselves as one of the best teams in the league, battling for that top spot in the Western Conference along the Lakers and the Nuggets. If the Spurs don’t raise their level on defense, it’s hard to imagine James Harden not dropping 40 or more tonight.
The San Antonio really need a win, but the difficulty of the game is very high tonight. Instead, I’ll think this will be a high scoring game between both these teams.
