Schalke will host Union Berlin on Friday night at Veltins Arena, in a match for Bundesliga Round 13.
After a very disappointing season last year, Schalke is back to his old ways. Currently in the 5th place of the Bundesliga, they could temporarily jump to 1st place, tied with Borussia Monchengladbach with 25 points. Actually, their home form has not been very good, as they drew their last three fixtures for the main German competition, something they’ll try to reverse when Union Berlin comes to town. Amine Harit, one of the main players for David Wagner’s squad, has scored six goals already for the home team, and will look to improve that mark against Union Berlin. After consecutive draws, Schalke need a strong first minutes to impose their game and finally get a win at home.
Union Berlin is the best Bundesliga team over the last five games with 4 wins and 1 loss. In their last four competitive matches, they secured a clean sheet in three of them along the win. The recently promoted team is making strides in the main domestic competition, and looks more and more likely to stay afloat with the big sharks for next year. Even though they have a very good record recently, they don’t perform as good away from home as they do in front of their fans. With only one win, one draw and three losses, Union Berlin hopes to perform better and maybe steal points at Veltins Arena. Sebastian Andersson has six goals for Berlin, someone that Schalke need to be aware of.
Schalke is the clear favourite for their match against Union Berlin, but the away team has been showing some great form lately. I expect some goals in this contest, between two attacking teams.
