The Scott Brooks-led team will receive the struggling San Antonio Spurs tonight at Capital One Arena in Washington.
Bradley Beal has been on a tear lately, scoring 44 points twice and 34 in his last game against the Orlando Magic. Without his friend John Wall, who’s still out due to injury, Beal needs to carry the load offensively for the Wizards to have a chance of winning every single night. With the way this San Antonio team is defending, the All-Star could very well explode to another incredible scoring night, providing another win to keep the playoff race intact. His team ranks in the top five offenses of the league, but their defense has been the main problem. If they could find a way to get enough stops, they should be in a good position to seal the victory.
On the other side, the Spurs have looked terrible. They started the season with 4 wins and a loss, but have lost eight of their last nine games, as they currently face a six-game losing streak. One of the Spurs flaws during this streak is the constant hole they’ve been putting themselves at the start of games.
"Well, we're doing two things consistently," Popovich said. "We're offering up 10-15 points a game to start and getting in a hole. And then we're doing a great job of digging ourselves out and getting back into games.”
They’ll look for their two main superstars in DeMar DeRozan and Lamarcus Aldridge to help them get out of this slump as they want to start climbing positions to be able to fight for the playoffs.
San Antonio has a much better squad than the Wizards, and even though they aren’t playing well at all, I think they’ll deliver against Bradley Beal and company.
