One of the biggest mysteries in NBA history in recent times is Markelle Fultz’s career with the Philadelphia 76ers. Drafted at No.1 overall in 2017, he came into the league as one of the most exciting prospects in recent years, but things didn’t go the way they were supposed to.
Before his first season started, he suddenly suffered a mysterious shoulder injury that prevented him to play for almost the entirety of the year. They alleged that was due a motorcycle incident. His shooting form completely changed, turning him from a 41.3% 3-Point shooter in college to a non-factor in the NBA. Much was said and discussed about Fultz, and how a potential superstar turned into one of the worsts 1st picks in recent memory.
He ended up making only 33 games in 2 years for the Philadelphia 76ers, before being traded to the Orlando Magic. When no one thought that he could turn it around anymore, Fultz decided to prove his critics wrong. He’s been really effective as the main Point Guard for the Magic, averaging 12.1 Points per game on limited minutes, with great efficiency from the floor.
For the 76ers, he never had more than two consecutive games scoring in double digits. He’s currently on a 10-game streak of scoring 10+ points for the Orlando Magic, showing that he belongs in the league. Things can only get better from here on for Markelle, as he’s in the perfect spot to develop his game and try to fulfill his potential. Keep an eye on the guard for the rest of the season.
