With one of the most iconic fadeaways in NBA history, and probably the best international player to ever do it, Dirk Nowitzki revolutionized the game of basketball for the better, winning a championship along the way.
31.560 Points. 11.489 Rebounds. 3.651 Assists. These are the main career stats for the German International. Incredible numbers, putting him in elite company with some All-Time greats who have played in the league. However, there’s one particular statistic that stands out during all these years.
Dirk’s career high in steals stands at 9 in a loss against the Houston Rockets in 2004. That career high equals players like Chris Paul, John Stockton and Scottie Pippen, while it’s even higher than Jason Kidd and Gary Payton. For a Power Forward who wasn’t particularly known for his defense, this statistic comes off as a surprise for a lot of people, seen as the best game ever in terms of steals achieved is 11, a record shared by Larry Kenon and Kendall Gill. He was one of the best at slapping the ball out of the opponents hands when he saw that he had no chance to contest the shot anymore, something that probably was the reason for this incredible game by Dirk.
