Michael Jordan will have his documentary “The Last Dance” aired on April 20. ESPN will premiere the first two episodes after high demand from the fans, due to practically everyone staying at home to contain the pandemic. We all know that one of Jordan’s biggest traits was his competitive nature. He never backed down from a challenge, with the most probable outcome was him coming out on top, no matter the opponent. That’s one of the reasons he believes people could probably get the wrong perception about his persona in his exclusive documentary.
“When people see this footage I’m not sure they’re going to be able to understand why I was so intense, why I did the things I did, why I acted the way I acted, and why I said the things I said,” Hehir, director of “The Last Dance” recalls of a conversation he had with Jordan about the docuseries in 2017.

The much-awaited show will cover Jordan’s final season with Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and coach Phil Jackson in the 1997/1998 Chicago Bulls. While most of the clips should be about MJ’s accomplishments, game-winning shots and memorable moments, there would also be heated exchanges with teammates and frustrations along the way, he says.
”When you see the footage of [me riding with Scotty Burrell], you're going to think that I'm a horrible guy,” Jason Hehir remembers His Airness telling him before defending his aggressive approach. “But you have to realize that the reason why I was treating him like that is because I needed him to be tough in the playoffs and we're facing the Indiana's and Miami's and New York's in the Eastern Conference. He needed to be tough and I needed to know that I could count on him.”
All in all, “The Last Dance” is probably the most awaited documentary ever about an athlete, and it should cover a different perspective from what fans are accustomed to watching. ESPN and Netflix will start airing the docuseries in a few days, keep an eye on it.
