The Los Angeles Lakers took care of business yesterday night at State Farm Arena against a struggling Atlanta Hawks. LeBron James led all scorers with 32 points while adding 13 rebounds and 7 assists as well in 36 minutes of play. They sit atop of the league with 24 wins and 3 losses, tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record, a team they will play against on Thursday night.
This win gave them the 14th straight road win, the 3rd longest streak ever. They could make history in their next few games, as they’re currently on a road trip through the East coast, but that won’t be an easy task. The Indiana Pacers are up next for the Lakers, a team that is 11-3 at home and is playing their best basketball of the season. In case of a win there, the Bucks are the team that follows, in probably the most expected matchup until now, as it will put head to head LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
List of the longest road win streaks:
16 Wins - Los Angeles Lakers, 1971/1972
15 Wins - Utah Jazz, 1995/1996
14 Wins - Golden State Warriors (2x), 2015/2016 and 2017/2018
14 Wins - Miami Heat (2x), 1996/1997 and 2010/2011
14 Wins - San Antonio Spurs, 2015/2016
14 Wins - Los Angeles Lakers*, 2019/2020
(*) Streak still active.
In what is considered one of the best Lakers team in history already, the LA team will try to tie the most consecutive wins on the road in these last two games away from the Staples Center. Even though it’s a hard task, they are more than capable of reaching that milestone.
