Jimmy Butler offered baskets to every teammate20 April 2020 / Miguel Coelho
The 30-year-old didn't want his teammates to remain rusty... So he gifted them baskets
Playing in high altitude. John Collins suspended. Trailing 12-0 in the first few minutes of the game. No problem for Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks, as they notched a huge win in one of the most tough places to play in the league.
The Denver Nuggets are one of the main contenders to win the Larry O’Brien trophy this year, but they’re not playing their best basketball yet in this first three weeks. However, they were clear cut favorites to win yesterday’s matchup against a not inform Atlanta Hawks. The game started lopsided as the Nuggets opened the score on a 12-0 run, indicating that they wanted to get the business done early on. Coming from a tough overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, one could think that after a very tough start to the game, the Hawks would just simply not have enough in the tank to be competitive until the end.
But after a rough first 12 minutes, Atlanta came back in the next quarter to produce an incredible 38-20 score, leaded by Young and Jabari Parker, a player who’s coming to life after multiple stints with different teams.
''We didn't want the same thing to happen again,'' Young said. ''We wanted to get back rolling.''
The sophomore player finished with an impressive statline: 42 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists.
While some may prefer Luka Doncic over Trae Young, one thing’s for certain. The trade that the Hawks made on draft day was not a mistake, like almost every NBA analyst was saying last year. He’s proving to be one of the next NBA superstars for years to come, obviously, along with the Slovenian. Get used to the Trae Young show for the next few years.
While Trae Young was putting on a show at the Mile High Altitude, the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers were fighting until the last drop of sweat in the desert. As predicted in our Betting Preview, the game came down to the wire, with Danny Green and Kyle Kuzma coming up clutch in the last two minutes.
After a really bad game against the Raptors, especially on the defensive side of the ball, Kuzma had revenge on the Suns, while proving not to be a liability on defense, and scoring the ball with ease on 3-6 from 3-point range. Rajon Rondo also made his debut on the season yesterday, finishing with 5 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists on 14 minutes off the bench. The veteran guard is a key piece on the 2nd unit, providing much needed ball handling and playmaking skills when LeBron James is resting. His chemistry with Anthony Davis comes from their days in the New Orleans Pelicans, and is one of the strengths this Laker team can exploit in the upcoming games.
''I've just got teammates who believe in me,'' Kuzma said. ''We all believe in each other. We're a team and we pick each other up.''
Phoenix is a sleeper in the Western Conference. They’ve built their team in a formidable way this offseason, with Ricky Rubio, someone who can take ball handling duties off Booker’s hands and big man Aron Baynes, a player that’s a very good defender along as an efficient shooter from 3-point land.
Predictions before the season had the Suns as the last seed on the Western Conference, and as the year goes on, they’re proving that a playoff spot isn't definitely out of reach, even with Deandre Ayton out until December.
