Chinmay Sutar and Shubham Sharma starred in India’s comprehensive 120-run win over Hong Kong in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup, in Savar on Monday. India will now clash with arch-rivals Pakistan in the semi-finals. The ongoing ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2019 in Bangladesh has witnessed some close encounters in the group stages and fans will now get ready for exciting battles in the semifinals. One of the semi-finals is set to see the age-old rivalry of India and Pakistan once again, this time at a junior level. While Pakistan finished at the top of Group A, India failed to become the first-place team in there after losing to Bangladesh in one of the group stage encounters. Bangladesh were playing their second match of Group B against India. Bangladesh put India in to bat first and, managed to restrict India to 246 in 50 overs. Bangladesh chased the run quite comfortably. The victory allowed Bangladesh to gain a two-point edge over India in Group B. In group A, Pakistan were rather comfortable in their group. They were unbeaten in the group and finished on top.
Sutar smashed an unbeaten 104 off 85 balls and Sharma was unbeaten on 65 off 55 balls as India amassed 322/5 in 50 overs. Opener and wicket-keeper BR Sharath too made a valuable contribution with 90 off 93 balls. Sharma also contributed with the ball taking 4/32 in 10 overs as India bowled out Kong Kong for 202/10 in 47.3 overs. Shivam Mavi and Siddharth Desai both took 2 wickets each. None of the Hong Kong batsmen were able to stand in front of the Indian bowling attack. Shahid Wasif top-scored for Hong Kong with 68 off 84 balls. India take on Pakistan in Dhaka on 20th November while the other semi-final will be played between hosts Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The final will be played in Dhaka on 23rd November.
