England batsman Sam Billings has taken a break to refresh and decided to withdraw from all franchise cricket including IPL as he looks to play for his county team, Kent. The county season starts in the month of April and Billings has decided to take a break till then. He was the only big player whose name was absent from the final list of shortlisted players who will be going under the hammer during the IPL 2020 auction. Before anyone could have anticipated that the franchises ignored Billings, the Englishman announced that he decided against putting his name forward for IPL auction. Billings was a part of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018 and 2019 but did not get regular chances. In IPL 2019, Billings got to play just one match. Billings wasn't picked in England's ODI and Test squads for the tour of South Africa. He was the T20I vice-captain on the tour of New Zealand recently but failed to impress.
Having stayed away from the game for close to two months due to mental health matters, Glenn Maxwell returns to the Big Bash League and is also keen to return to the Australian team if the chance arises. Maxwell has also made himself available for the IPL but stressed his mind is firmly on captaining the Melbourne Stars over the coming weeks. Glenn Maxwell has admitted he was suffering the effects of "four or five years" of near-constant travel until his partner Vini helped convince him to step off the international treadmill for a mental health break in October and has resolved to be more careful about how he plans his schedule in the future. While Australian coach Justin Langer noticed that Maxwell lacked his regular enthusiasm against Sri Lanka, the swashbuckling batsman said it was his girlfriend Vini who noticed first. "It was actually my partner who suggested I speak to someone," Maxwell said. "She was the first one who noticed it.”
