India and Bangladesh practiced under lights with the pink ball at the Holkar Stadium (Indore) on Sunday. Bangladeshi cricketers hit the nets on Sunday and were tentative to anything delivered or chucked at them around off-stump, played their cut shots without much power, and concentrated on just leaving balls outside the off stump. It is not how the Bangladesh batsmen usually play in the nets, but against the new pink balls, there was a clear air of caution. Bangladeshi batsmen were busy taking on pace bowlers with the occasional dash, their focus was on watching the ball as closely as possible. They spent one session facing Al-Amin Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman, the fast bowlers practicing for the third seamer’s spot in Kolkata. head coach Russell Domingo and bowling coaches Charl Langeveldt and Daniel Vettori kept a close watch. This day was all about gathering as much information about the pink ball as possible.
Kolkata is gearing up to host the first-ever pink ball day-night Test match at the Eden Gardens. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has joined hands with Creocraft to give life to the Eden’s walls, which will tell the story of a cricketer and his journey from the maidan to the national side. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly unveiling 'Pinku-Tinku', the much-awaited event's official mascots. Ganguly was seen posing with the match ticket and the mascots at the Eden Gardens. A giant pink balloon was also released at the Eden Gardens and it will be seen floating in the sky till the end of the historic India-Bangladesh Test. Several parts of the city around the stadium have been decorated with pink lights while some landmarks will be lit up in pink lights in the run-up to the match. A dozen billboards, six LED boards, and branded buses will also be seen around the city from Monday onwards to increase awareness about the Test.
