India's preparations for next year's T20 World Cup get back underway as they take on the West Indies in a three-match T20I series, starting on December 6 at Hyderabad. India hasn't fielded their best eleven as yet in this format was not lost on Virat Kohli when asked about India's fifth-placed ranking. However, ahead of the three-match T20I series against West Indies which starts on Friday, India looks close as close to full strength as is possible. Apart from a few spots in the squad which is locked, there are few places that are still not locked and players will be eager to impress the management and selectors. A very good opportunity for KL Rahul to place him with Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. Besides Rahul, another individual who would like to answer his critics with solid performances is Pant. The duo Kuldeep and Chahal will return after a long time. The Indian pace attack looks menacing with the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami. West Indies are considered a very good T20 side but lost their last T20 series against Afghanistan.
Newly appointed West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard backed young starts who joined the squad and said the management need to protect youngsters from the “vultures” who are always trying to bring them down. Speaking to media after the team’s training session, Pollard said: “We have played a lot in India, it is just a matter of using that experience and trying to win matches here. At the end of the day, we are here to play some good cricket, we have prepared well and hopefully, we show a good performance tomorrow,” Pollard said on the eve of the first T20I, which will be played here on Friday. Referring to the absence of some senior players, Pollard said that the team needs to move on and look to put their best foot forward.
