PCB Backs Misbah despite failure in PSL 202023 March 2020 / SkyBook365 Cricket Editors Team
Islamabad crashed out without reaching the knockout stages for the 1st time.
Five-wicket hauls from Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav and a classy century from Virat Kohli powered India to a 2-0 series clean sweep as they beat Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the historic day-night Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This is the first time a team has recorded four consecutive wins by an innings or more. Bangladesh's Test cricket has been stuck in a vicious cycle for years. After every overseas series loss, fingers are pointed at the same issues: the pitches back home, the standard of domestic first-class cricket. Then the attention shifts to the limited-overs formats, which Bangladesh play more of anyway. They are a pretty good ODI team, and they are looking to catch up with the rest of the world in T20Is. The cycle has repeated itself with no actual change on the ground over the course of Bangladesh's last four overseas series: 2-0 losses in South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand and India. The frailties in Test cricket, especially away from home, are talking points for a while, but there's always a limited-overs series around the corner for a change of topic.
Umesh Yadav finished the task with a 5-wicket haul as India swatted away Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs to seal the series 2-0. This was also India’s 4th innings win on the bounce and it took their winning streak to 7 matches. Captain Virat Kohli lauded the effort and hunger of his side and singled out the desire of the fast bowlers to get onto the park and win matches for the side. The proceedings on Day 3 got wrapped early as Umesh Yadav removed the Bangladesh tail in the first hour of play to hand India an impressive innings and 46 runs victory in their maiden Day/Night Test. In the process, the 32-year-old also completed his fifer. Ishant Sharma was awarded the man of the series trophy. With this victory, India also sealed the series 2-0. This is India’s fourth successive innings win, making them the first team to do so in the history of Test cricket.
