India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies after picking up a groin injury during the T20I series, which India won 2-1. Shardul Thakur will replace him in the 15-man squad for the upcoming series. "Bhuvneshwar complained of pain in his right groin after the final T20I in Mumbai on Wednesday," the Board of Control for Cricket in India stated in a release on Saturday (December 14). "He underwent an ultrasound scan conducted by a specialist and the BCCI medical team found that his sportsman's hernia symptoms have resurfaced. A specialist opinion will now be sought, and his management plan will be decided accordingly." Thakur played the last of his five ODIs in the Asia Cup in Dubai last year. He has also played seven T20Is and a solitary Test, against West Indies last year. India have already lost Shikhar Dhawan to injury for this series, with Mayank Agarwal replacing him in the squad.
Former West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo has officially come out of international retirement. Bravo, however, confirmed that he didn't want to play any other format. "I would like to announce my return to international T20s for West Indies," Bravo told ESPNcricinfo in Chennai. "Once selected I'll be fully committed to represent the region again in T20 cricket, which I think is exciting for West Indies cricket and fans, with the young talents around." West Indies assistant coach Roddy Estwick has welcomed Dwayne Bravo's decision to make himself available for T20 Internationals again. Estwick refused to set a timeframe for Bravo's comeback game but pointed out that the squad will be delighted to have him back in the national fold. "I can't say when he is likely to return but I'm very very happy because that would us another experienced player in the dressing room, give us another experienced player on the field," Estwick said. "Somebody with his experience in T20 cricket, We will welcome him with open arms.”
