Islamabad crashed out without reaching the knockout stages for the 1st time.
West Indies are slowly getting the band under new management in the lead-up to their T20 World Cup defense next year. Chris Gayle is on a break, and Andre Russell is still not fit enough to play international cricket, but Lendl Simmons is back, as is Kieron Pollard, who is now in charge of both the T20I and ODI teams, and Dwayne Bravo has hinted at coming out of retirement. Pollard began his tenure by leading West Indies to their first ODI series victory in five years, against Afghanistan, but then they also lost the t three-match T20I series. Skipper Kieron Pollard doesn't mind West Indies' underdog tag against India and said his team will look to focus on the basics to get a favorable result. "We are coming up against a harder opposition, we would be the underdogs and that's fine but then again it is about going out there and executing and believing in your talent, once you do that anything is possible," Pollard said.
West Indies are set to play three T20Is and three ODIs against India with their new limited-overs captain in Kieron Pollard. West Indies Cricket Board, made him captain of the ODI and T20I format after they decided to replace Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite as captains in white-ball cricket. He has stated that captaincy was thrust upon him and now he doesn’t want to shy away from the challenge. He told, “It was something that was sprung upon me. I was playing international cricket for a long period of time. I missed out for 3 or 4 years. It is no secret what transpired in terms of my relationship with the board and whatever.” He added “For me, it is a simple thing. I can share experience in the dressing room. There are a lot of young guys in the dressing room. And they need the experienced guys also to guide them along so. You know, that's basically my job. In terms of trying to guide them and set them in the right direction.”
