Reinier follows in the footsteps of Vinicius and Rodrygo21 January 2020 / Lucho Mera
The 18-year-old Brazilian is a new Real Madrid player and he arrives from Flamengo.
Now that the January window transfer is open, clubs start to actively seek opportunities to strengthen their team, as transfers are harder to get done in this month. Usually, the most common moves are from players whose contracts expire or are expiring in the following summer. Manchester United is a team that urgently needs 3 or 4 players to improve their chances at competing with Manchester City and Liverpool, but Ed Woodward seems hesitant in spending big money to bring top players. We all know that United is one of the most profitable clubs in the World, so what’s the problem? Is it a strategy from the board, or is United having trouble attracting the world’s best at the moment? Either way, we’ve analyzed 3 players who could come to Old Trafford due to their contract limitations. Usually, the clubs want to profit something with them, so they are open to let them go during the January window for a small amount. Let’s take a look at the best options for the Red Devils.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker has been linked to several clubs already. Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and now United appear as the main options for him. Even though Cavani’s not a cheap solution due to his wages, he has the capability of making an impact right away on this United team that doesn’t have a clear No.9 option. With only 5 goals during this current season, the Uruguayan comes across as the best option to perform immediately.
Just thinking.... I would 100% go & get @ECavaniOfficial (Edinson Cavani).— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) January 3, 2020
Huge experience, Goalscorer, Work Ethic & Great Pro who the younger players in the squad would learn a lot from! Thoughts?!#AskRio https://t.co/bG2KXAYSUf
The 2nd most viable option is Piatek. The AC Milan striker has been disappointing during his tenure with the historic Italian team, producing only 4 goals in 18 matches this season. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic return and Rafael Leão eager to prove his worth, the Polish could be out of San Siro if the right offer comes along. Manchester United could be interested in Piatek due to his age, as he’s 24 years old only, and due to his potential. He’ll probably need time to adapt himself to the Premier League, even though he relies on his physical prowess quite a bit, but a deal for him could solve the No.9 problems United has since Robin Van Persie left Old Trafford.

With the ascension of Tammy Abraham, Giroud lost his space on Chelsea’s starting eleven. Not only that, but he’s hardly a regular feature on the Blues matches. This transfer window could bring some news for him, as he’s trying to make a move out of Stamford Bridge to earn more playing time. Even though it could be a short-term solution for the Red Devils, Giroud provides a goalscoring threat upfront that Solskjaer doesn’t have on his squad at the moment. From the three players listed, this could be the lowest spending transfer for United.
