3 Academy prospects Paris Saint-Germain didn’t capitalize03 April 2020 / Miguel Coelho
Paris Saint-Germain has an history of wasting their youth talent. Who are they?
By breaking FIFA regulations regarding player transfers involving minors, the Blues faced a two-window transfer ban, starting last summer window. Now the ban was reduced and the club is free to approach the market in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea was only allowed to rely on their returning loanees to make the team better for this season. The team just exercised its option to buy Mateo Kovacic and allow the returns of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Reece James, and Fikayo Tomori. This young core took huge influence in Chelsea's first-team, with Abraham being the team's top scorer, Mason Mount securing a spot in the midfield position and Tomori being a great option to play along with Kurt Zouma. The need to integrate these new players and Lampard's decision to give them minutes turned out to be a great addition to the club.
It's difficult to replace a player like Eden Hazard and, despite having a good option in Pulisic, Chelsea is looking for a world-class talented player that could replace Hazard's absence. Jadon Sancho is one of the most talented young wingers in Europe currently, and the player has been linked to many clubs, with Chelsea being one of the names on the list. It seems a very difficult signing for the club due to the strong competition but surely Sancho is a name that has been considered by the club.
With Marcos Alonso plagued with injuries and Emerson not performing effectively in the position, Chelsea has been looking for a player for the position. The club has been linked to Ben Chilwell from Leicester and the English international will for sure improve the quality in that position. The 22-year-old has been one of the key pieces in Brendan Rogers' team and one of the main responsible of Leicester's recent success.
The Blues saw the departures of Gary Cahill and David Luiz recently and remained with 4 options for the center back position: Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori. With Ethan Ampadu on loan at RB Salzburg, the team still needs to strengthen the position and the return of Nathan Aké would be a good step in that direction. Despite having still 24, Aké has the experience of years playing at Bournemouth.
