Half Europe is asking for Ferrán Torres07 April 2020 / Rui Sousa
The Spanish forward may leave Valencia for one of the European football giants
It was a match between the two leaders of La Liga, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and although everyone expected a game with many goals and emotions, in the end, there was a lot of tension and a goalless draw that disappointed many. It is not usual to see a ‘Clasico’ without goals, and it took more than 15 years since the last time it happened, but the clash also left two historical marks with their own names: Sergio Ramos and Ansu Fati.
The goalless draw from this Wednesday at Camp Nou is the first result of this type that has been produced in a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid since the 2002/03 season, also in the Barça stadium. That meeting was the famous clash in which Luis Figo returned to his previous home after having moved from Barcelona to Madrid, and in which he received all kinds of throws from the stands, including a piglet head.
Since that meeting, 17 seasons ago, no ‘Clasico’ had finished goalless. It is the ninth match between these teams that finishes 0-0 in the history of these clashes, and it also meant the end of another streak: This Wednesday is the first game against Real Madrid in which the ‘culé’ team wasn’t able to score since 2007. Barcelona had been scoring for 23 consecutive matches against their biggest rival, but on a slightly lucid night of their attack trident formed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Antoine Griezmann, Thibaut Courtois managed to contain the Barça attempts and kept his goal to zero.

It was a very special match for Sergio Ramos since the central defender is already the player who has played the most ‘Clasicos’ in history, with 43. The Real Madrid captain received a commemorative shirt from Florentino Pérez, president of the white club, after the game, as he surpassed the records of 42 ‘Clasicos’ of Manolo Sanchís, Paco Gento, Xavi Hernández, and Messi. Ramos completed a good game and after the draw at Camp Nou, he also spoke with the media about the match: "We controlled the game quite well. We had more chances than they did. It is not easy to take the ball away from them. The strategy of pressing up and taking off the ball worked quite well."
And while Ramos reached the record of disputed ‘Clasicos’, Ansu Fati played for the first time against Real Madrid and became the youngest player to participate in this kind of game in the 21st century, and the second youngest in history to do so with the Barcelona shirt. The young forward jumped into the field in the second half to replace Griezmann and did so with 17 years and 48 days of age. Only Vicente Martínez (16 years and 278 days) beats him in precocity in a ‘Clasico’, while leaving behind another recent mark, the one obtained by Bojan Krkic, another of the local products of Barcelona, ??who did it with 17 years and 117 days. It is not the first record of this type that Ansu Fati gets this season since recently he also became the youngest player to score a goal in the history of the Champions League (17 years and 40 days) by doing it against Inter Milan in San Siro.
