Barcelona will sell the naming of the stadium in a solidarity initiative to help the fight against the new coronavirus
It was expected such a heated return to his former club pitch by Antoine Griezmann, when FC Barcelona took on Atletico Madrid last Sunday. What was not expected was some of the chants that they loudly cheered against the Frenchman.
In an attempt to intimidate their former player, who left Atletico to join Lionel Messi and company, several fans at Wanda Metropolitano screamed “Griezmann Die” as the match went on, leaving no choice but for La Liga to act against such terrible events. Unfortunately, these type of things keep happening on multiple stadiums throughout Europe, and should be severely punished by federations.
The most probable sanction is the partial or even total closure of the stadium for a limited amount of matches. If possible, every single fan who performed this act should be identified and never allowed to take part in a football match for the remaining of his life, as they harm the majority of the fanbase if legal action is taken from here on. The period of time for the decision is not known yet, but most probably, Atletico Madrid will receive severe punishment for this event.
