3 Academy prospects Paris Saint-Germain didn’t capitalize03 April 2020 / Miguel Coelho
Paris Saint-Germain has an history of wasting their youth talent. Who are they?
The post Alex Ferguson era has been nothing but horrendous for Manchester United and his fans. Even though they were able to win some silverware with José Mourinho, the club never recovered the remarkable achievements of the past decade.
However, even in troubled times like these, there are some bright spots. One of them is Marcus Rashford. A product made by the United academy, emerged on February 25th, 2016 against Midtjylland after Anthony Martial injured himself in the warm-up before the match. He went on to score two goals in that same game, and the rest is history. He’s now the main player at United and one of the most important players for his national squad. United has high hopes for Rashford as they think he can follow the legacy of David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and others to lead the club back to the promised land.
Most of the analytics and pundits suggested the Englishman to request a transfer move somewhere else in order to turn around his career, but at the moment he’s proving them wrong in the only possible way. Rashford has been involved directly in 11 Premier League goals, more than players like Raheem Sterling, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. It’s this the season where he cements himself as one of the best strikers in the World? The talent is visible, but the consistency is still missing. Will be interesting to see if he can keep up the extraordinary displays he’s been lately demonstrating.
