3 Academy prospects Paris Saint-Germain didn’t capitalize03 April 2020 / Miguel Coelho
Paris Saint-Germain has an history of wasting their youth talent. Who are they?
Seven international meetings between the two sides, five victories for Spain, one draw and only one win for the Norwegians. A 66th-minute header from Tottenham's striker Steffen Iversen took down an experienced Spanish team that had some pretty impressing figures in all sectors. A defense led by Spain's captain Fernando Hierro, Pep Guardiola controlling the pace in the middle and former Real Madrid's icon Raúl González in the front, formed a team that had everything in their hand to spend a calm evening on that June 13th at Rotterdam. However, on the other side was a tireless Norway whose face was a 27-year-old striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That was the only victory from Norway, in a stunning performance filled with courage and toughness, defeating Spain on the first game of EURO 2000 Group C. Spain managed to win the group, while Norway was eliminated from the competition, finishing 3rd. Guardiola and the rest of La Roja didn't went far in the tournament, falling at the Quarter-Finals against who turned out to be European Champions... France!
THE FINAL STEPS
With two wins in these next two matches, Spain will be qualified for the Euro 2020 and despite being against two of the most powerful opponents in the group, today at Norway and October 15th at Stockholm could be the last steps for La Roja to guarantee their passport.
A WALK IN THE PARK
6 wins in all 6 matches played so far in Group F. Euro 2020 Qualifiers have been a "walk in the park" for Spain, averaging almost 3 goals per game and conceding only for 3 times.
3 DEBUTS IN A SURPRISING LIST
Robert Moreno announced 3 debuts amongst the 24 players selected in what was a surprising list. Why? Lets go step by step. Pau Torres (Villarreal), Sergio Reguillón (Sevilla) and Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) were the three privileged to have the chance to debut for his country. The surprise relies on the fact that Real Madrid and Barcelona only have 3 players on the list, namely Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal for the Merengues, and only Sergio Busquets for the Blaugrana. With that said, it's Villarreal who has the most presence in the list, with Santi Cazorla and Raul Albiol joining the already named debutants. Jordi Alba (Injured) and Sergi Roberto (Option) were left out, while Isco (Option), Odriozola (Option) and Nacho (Injured) incresed the list of absences.
AN INTERESTING ANNOUNCEMENT
Following the partnership with Spanish flight company Iberia, Robert Moreno used a boarding panel to announce the 24. Destination? Norway! Take a look.
