3 Academy prospects Paris Saint-Germain didn’t capitalize03 April 2020 / Miguel Coelho
Paris Saint-Germain has an history of wasting their youth talent. Who are they?
Christian Eriksen has been a glue player for the Tottenham Hotspur for the last few seasons. The midfielder came around in 2013, immediately leaving his mark on the fans and inside the pitch. His ability to control possession and generate opportunities for his teammates were something that set him apart from the others, making him one of the most valuable players in the Premier League.
However, he faces a dilemma right now. There was much speculation this summer transfer window about his possible departure from the club or the possibility of a new contract extension. None of it happened, but there were guarantees that by January or the end of the season he was set to leave for another European powerhouse. Fast forward to now, and Mauricio Pochettino is no longer commanding the Spurs squad, being replaced by the one and only José Mourinho. This is a clear sign from Daniel Levy that Tottenham is ready to compete with the big sharks in Liverpool and Manchester City.
The question remains… Will Eriksen give a second thought about the possibility of leaving the club when it’s clearly visible that they will try to be one of the best teams in Europe? Is Mourinho enough to change his mind? Or a club’s name like Real Madrid and Barcelona are enough to lure him? We’ll see it first hand in January what is Tottenham’s position about this matter.
